PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — A Portageville man died after he was struck by a train late Thursday in New Madrid County.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 7:45 p.m. on Fifth Street and Warren Avenue in Portageville, a 51-year-old pedestrian, Charles V. Brown of Portageville, was crossing the railroad tracks when he was struck by the westbound General Electric train operated by Harold D. Miller, 49, of Chaffee.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:13 p.m. by New Madrid County Coroner George DeLisle and transported to the New Madrid morgue.
