John Thurmond
EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — John Anthony Thurmond, 59, died June 13, 2018, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Oct. 10, 1958, in Cairo, Ill., son of Zelda June Coleman Thurmond of East Prairie and the late Billy Edward Thurmond, he was employed as a truck driver. He was a member of First Christian Church in East Prairie.
On July 9, 1977, he married Pamela Joy Tatum, who preceded him in death on Sept. 30, 2011.
In addition to his mother, survivors include: his companion, Kaye Kirby of East Prairie; one son, Lance Dee Clark of Dexter; one brother, Billy Edward Thurmond of Hopewell, Va.; two sisters, Bobbi Rains of Sikeston and Barbara Mainord of East Prairie; and five grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one son, Todd Charles Anthony Thurmond.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Monday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with Nathan Claycomb and Martin Lucas officiating.
Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Clayton Moore, Justin Scott, Joshua St.Mary, Keith McCutchen and Roy Dean.
