Charles Vickery Jr.
CHAFFEE, Mo. — Charles W. Vickery Jr., 87, died July 19, 2018, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau.
Born Oct. 16, 1930, in Chaffee, son of the late Charles William Sr. and Hattie Pearl Parmeley Vickery, he was a retired brakeman/conductor for Frisco Railroad-Burlington Northern in Chaffee for over 42 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chaffee, Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810 and the Chaffee Masonic Lodge 615.
On July 2, 1949, he married Virginia Lee Roney, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 1994. He later married Dorothy Scheeter Halbert on March 15, 1995, and she survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Charles L. (Kathy) Vickery of Sikeston and James (Suzie) Vickery of Cape Girardeau; three stepsons, Hal (Linda) Halbert of Wappapello, Scott Halbert of Chaffee and Mitch (Jill) Halbert of Cape Girardeau; and 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Ed Vickery; a sister, Charlene Talley; and a stepdaughter, Jan Halbert.
Visitation is from noon until service time at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee with the Rev. Josh Boley officiating. Burial will be at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
