Mary Loos
JACKSON, Mo. — Mary Alyce Loos, age 62, of Jackson passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at her home with her family by her side. She fought a very brave, courageous and valiant war with brain cancer.
She was born Feb. 23, 1956, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Albert G. “Albey” Schwartz Jr. and Ruth Joan (Ross) Schwartz. She and Robert Loos were married Sept.10, 1983, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Missouri.
Mary attended grade school in Illmo-Scott City and in 1974 graduated from Scott City High School in Scott City. She attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and worked in the clerical field for Wetterau in Scott City, Atlas Plastics and Drury Company in Cape Girardeau. For 26 years, she was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Jackson until failing health forced her to retire. Mary was a first responder and volunteer for the Fruitland Fire Department for 26 years and was the board secretary for 22 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 63 in Cape Girardeau. Mary was a former member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fruitland, an active member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson and greatly enjoyed her church families. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and was always willing to help others whenever she could.
Loving survivors include her husband, Robert Loos, of 35 years; two daughters, Jessica Lynn (Brian) Loos Ramsey and Katie Nicole Loos, both of Sikeston; a granddaughter, Sadie Jayne Ramsey; two sisters, Phyllis (Kevin) Stehlin of St. Charles and Norma (Paul) Sanders of Jackson; a brother, James (Diane Urey) Schwartz of near Newport, Ore.; a brother-in-law, L.G. (Cathy) Loos II of St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Margaret (Jim) Loos-Polk of Katy, Texas; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, lots of cousins, great friends and three canine buddies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, maternal and paternal grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Sam Roethemeyer, Joe Rowley officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Wavis Jordan officiating.
