Wappapello man drowns in lake

WAPPAPELLO, Mo. — A Wappapello man drowned while swimming over the weekend in Wappapello Lake.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 5:40 p.m. Saturday officials responded to the report of a drowning at Wappapello Lake, two miles north of the dam. Randall L. Scott, 59, of Wappapello was swimming in the lake, failed to enter the boat, became fatigued, went under the water and never resurfaced. Scott was pronounced dead at 2:55 p.m. Sunday by Wayne County Sheriff Dean Finch and taken by ambulance to the Morrison-Worley Funeral Home in Piedmont.
