Virginia Pruitt

SIKESTON — Virginia N. Pruitt, 92, died peacefully, with her family around her, on July 17, 2018, at Highland Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. 

Born July 13, 1926, in St. Louis, the daughter of Frank Silvertooth and Perilee Flake Silvertooth, Virginia worked as part of the war effort for the Army Service Forces in the St. Louis Ordnance District, from 1943-1945.

On March 9, 1946, she married William Pruitt, who died in 2002. She moved with her husband from St. Louis to Sikeston in 1971. She was a member of the Vanduser Church of Christ until November 2017, when she relocated to Valley Manor Assisted Living in Rochester. 

Survivors include her son, Bill Pruitt Jr., and daughter-in-law Pamela Pruitt of Rochester; a grandson, Elliott Pruitt of Rochester; a granddaughter, Cedar Pruitt; a grandson-in-law, Dan Neafsey; and two great-grandchildren, Pearl, and Axel Neafsey, all of Newton, Mass.; and a sister, June Self of Rogers, Ark.

Graveside services will be held at Cape Memorial Cemetery in Cape Girardeau at a date and time yet to be determined.
