Melba Horton

SIKESTON — Melba A. Horton, 92, passed away July 25, 2018, at her home in Sikeston.

Born Feb. 4, 1926, in Morehouse, daughter of the late Alice Eva Lockridge and James Allen Farris, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 595 in New Madrid.

Her husband, J.B. Horton, preceded her in death on May 11, 1990.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Eva Horton Pettus; one brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include: two daughters and a son-in-law, Janelle and Ken Burch of Sikeston and Karen Horton of Sikeston; one son-in-law, the Rev. L. Glenn Pettus; two grandchildren, Phillip Burch and Amelia Patterson of Sikeston; and two great-grandchildren, Julia and Sophia Schuerenberg of Sikeston.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid.
