James O’Connor
EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — James O'Connor, 77, died Aug. 5, 2018, at his home.
Born April 16, 1941, in Charleston, son of the late Claude Elmer and Annie Jewel Holmes O’Connor, he was a member of the St. James Baptist Church in East Prairie and a former employee for Fitzgerald Marine in Belmont.
On June 25, 1991, he married Brenda Sexton, who survives of the home.
Other than his wife, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James Claude and Della O’Connor of Blytheville, Ark., Lenzy Warren and Courtney O’Connor of Sikeston and Richard and Dawn Kelly of East Prairie; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Gail O’Connor and Pam and Jeff Butler of Charleston, Tracy and Jerry Baker of Lilbourn and Penny Hyde of Vanduser; one brother, Earl O’Connor of Kewanee; three sisters, Sally Moser of Paris, Mo., and Nelda Fitzgerald and Ella Craven of Sikeston; and 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, J.D. O’Connor and Howard O’Connor.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Shelby Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with David Dowdy officiating.
Burial will follow in the Anniston Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Bradley Kelly, Danny Bright Jr., Kevin Fitzgerald, Austin O’Connor, Brandon O’Connor and Chris Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Charles Moore, Harold Carlyle, Gary Whybark and Howard Tony.
