Irene Brantley
CHARLESTON, Mo. — Irene Brantley, 91, died Aug. 9, 2018, at the Charleston Manor.
Born Nov. 30, 1926, in Charleston, daughter of the late Perry and Lucille Morgan Butler, she attended school in Diehlstadt. First employed with Brown Shoe Company, she later worked as a sales clerk at Wigdor’s Department Store, had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher.
On Aug. 2, 1946, she married William H. “Bill” Brantley Jr., who preceded her in death on June 22, 2007.
Survivors include: one daughter, Donna (Tom) Halstead of Charleston; and one sister-in-law, Ruby Butler of Diehlstadt; three grandchildren, Dr. Cully Bryant of Sikeston, Jason Bryant of East Prairie and Tommy Halstead of Portageville; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers.
Private graveside services will be held Friday at the Oak Grove Cemetery with Elijah Allen, chaplain with Crown Hospice, officiating.
