Charles Rone
Charles Rone was born March 31, 1939, in Portageville, to Charlie W. Rone and June Locke Rone Newsome, and passed away July 26, 2018 in Chula Vista, California.
He attended schools at Hayward Elementary in Hayward, Mo., Linda Vista Elementary and Junior High, and Mission Bay High School in Sand Diego, Calif., El Paso Community College, Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Co., Temple Junior College, Temple, Texas; joined the U.S. Army in June 1960, and retired August 1980, having received the following awards: Combat Infantryman's Badge, Legion of Merit, Two Bronze Stars, Army Accommodation Medal, Expert Marksman Badge, Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry, M-60A2 Master Gunners Badge, Viet Nam Service Ribbon for having served two years in Viet Nam, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He worked for, and retired from, the U.S. Postal Service.
According to Charles, “I was a lucky man to have had a beautiful, caring and loving wife, Mabel L. Rone, who passed away in June 2014.”
