Irene Handley

Irene Handley, 80, of Hayti, was born September 4, 1937, in Hayti, to the late Carrie Mae Nelson and the late Christopher Columbus Crumley, and departed this life July 29, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was of the Baptist faith; she loved shopping, working in her yard, and in earlier years doing crafts; but her biggest joys came from visiting her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Robert Penrod, and William Walter Joseph Handley; one son, Steven F. Penrod on December 17, 1993; and five brothers, Eugene, Elmer, Huey, Howard and Dallas Crumley.

She is survived by one daughter, Kaye (Gary) McMullin of O'Fallon, Mo.; a son, Robert (Janis) Penrod of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Madison, Christopher and Jimmy McMullin, Chirs Kevin and Matthew Penrod; five great-grandchildren, Cadence Renee, Addison, Andrew, Jace, and Emery Penrod; and sisters, Christine Brooks of Kennett, Leora Curtis of Wardell, and Opal Hardesty of Spencer, Ind.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 2, 2018 at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. Burial followed in Portageville Cemetery.
