James “Nathan” Day

James “Nathan” Day was born April 28, 1969 in Hayti, Missouri, to Brenda Sue Beasley and Noah Donald Day. He passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo. at the age of 49 years and 2 months.

Nathan was a graduate of Portageville High School in 1987, and worked as an outside contractor. He loved hunting and fishing, but his greatest passion was for his music. He played the drums with several different bands in the area. He was a great drummer, probably one of the best in Southeast Missouri. Nathan will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, quick wit and easy laugh. He will be missed by his family and his many friends especially his music community.

He leaves to cherish his memories his father, Don Day and his wife, Cindy, of Portageville; his mother, Brenda Day of Morehouse, Mo.; one daughter, Amalia Grace Day, also of Morehouse; a son, Jon Tyler Day of Sikeston, MO.; and many other relatives and friends.

Services were conducted Saturday, June 30, 2018 at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville with Rev. Barron Willer officiating. Burial followed in Portageville Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Josh Chipman, Eric Bond, Greg Johnson, Collin Daugherty, Trey Rone and Jon Tyler Day.

DeLisle Funeral Home of Portageville was in charge of arrangements.
