CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. — A death investigation is underway at the Pemiscot County Jail following an inmate’s death late Friday.

According to Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, the inmate, John Deloach, 30, of East Prairie was found unresponsive at 11:51 p.m. Friday by jail staff. Deloach was being held for New Madrid County.

An autopsy conducted Saturday at Farmington showed no trauma, but officials must wait for toxicology report before the cause of death can be determined, the sheriff said.

At the request of Greenwell, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control is leading the investigation.
