Dorena-Hickman Ferry closed for dredging work

Tuesday, August 21, 2018

HICKMAN, Ky. (AP) — A ferry between Kentucky and Missouri is closed this week while dredging work is completed.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry will be closed until the work is complete. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said the ferry plans to perform some maintenance in the meantime.

An Army Corps of Engineers dredge is expected to be working in the Hickman harbor most of the week.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects Kentucky 1354 at Hickman, Kentucky, with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Missouri. The states are the only border states not connected by a road or bridge. The ferry is the only direct route between the two states.
