Sarah Jones
SIKESTON — Sarah Mae Jones, 84, died Aug. 20, 2018, at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston.
Born July 15, 1934. in Deason, Miss., daughter of the late Charlie and Ocie Harris Johnson, she was of the Christian belief and attended the Church of God in Christ.
In 1952, she moved to Chicago, where she was employed as a model for Lane Bryant for several years. She retired in 1996 from the state of Illinois where she was a chef for many years. She then relocated to Sikeston.
In 1962, she married Albert Jones, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Willie Mitchell, Charlie Johnson Jr., Johnnie Johnson, Oscar Johnson and Robert Johnson; and six sisters, Lillie Mae Harris, Victoria Hart, Alixie White, Corean Spencer, Juanita Rush and Edna Mae Johnson.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Juanita Johnson of Sikeston; one daughter, TaJuan Jones of Detroit; one brother, John Johnson of St. Louis; two sisters, Earnestine Wells of Sikeston and Olivia Williams of St. Louis; and five grandchildren.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at noon Saturday at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston with Bishop Ronnie Webb officiating.
The Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
