Ludene Burns
SIKESTON — Ludene Burns, 80, died Aug. 21, 2018, at her home near Sikeston.
Born Oct. 18, 1937, at Selmer, Tenn., daughter of the late Hubert and Virlon (Wyatt) Cooksey, she was a member of Diehlstadt General Baptist Church and had been a lifelong resident of Jackson and Sikeston.
On Aug. 19, 1953, in Sikeston, she married Howard Thomas Burns Sr., and he preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 2014.
Survivors include: four sons, Howard T. Burns Jr. of Sandwich, Ill., Dennis W.(Terry) Burns of Matthews, James S. "Bo" (Laurie) Burns of Gordonville and Randal Rowdy (Amy) Burns of Sikeston; three daughters, Diann (Rick) Knight of Oak Ridge, Donna (Larry) Tucker and Tammy (Mike) Hampton of Sikeston; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Burns of Lake Holiday, Ill.; one foster daughter, Melissa Diakite of Sikeston; two brothers, Carley Cooksey and Harley Cooksey of Matthews; one sister, Doris Graham of Sikeston; and 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Charlene Burns and Christine Beeson, also preceded her in death. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Diehlstadt General Baptist Church. The Rev. Dwayne Kirkpatrick, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Brandon Tucker, Brian Burns Richie Knight, Guage Heady, Ashley Burns and Garrett Dodge.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Jeremy Grither, Keith Lawson, Jimmy Sievers and Zach Bowers.
