BMU rate increase request to be presented to city council Monday
Friday, August 24, 2018
SIKESTON — The City of Sikeston could see another increase in their electric rates as well as an increase in water and sewer.
At Monday’s special city council meeting, scheduled for 11:30 a.m., BMU General Manager Rick Landers will present the request to increase rates to the Council and answer any questions.
BMU has had significant rate increases since 2014, including a 10.9 percent increase in July of 2017 that was passed unanimously by the Council.
The newest set of increases being proposed Monday will be a series of three annual 8-percent increases planned for October 2018-2020.
Council will hear Landers on Monday and vote on the increases at their Sept. 10 meeting.
