BERTRAND, Mo. — Joseph “Joe” Garrett, 65, formerly of Sikeston, died Aug. 28, 2018, at his home in Bertrand.

Born Jan. 3, 1953, at Bertrand, son of the late Oscar and Rosa Alline Turnbow Garrett, he had lived most of his life in Sikeston where he was employed a number of years as the sexton of Garden of Memories Cemetery and Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston and the Forest Hills Cemetery near Morley. He was of Pentecostal belief.

On July 14, 1988, at Benton, Mo., he married Minnie Beatrice Isbell, who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: four sons, Willard Benjamin Wilson, Joseph Anthony Garrett, James Edward Spurlin and Joseph Scott Garrett; two daughters, Betty Wilson and Martha Jean Wilson; brothers, George Garrett, Raymond Garrett and Sam Garrett; sisters, Shirley Foster and Margie Fleming; and 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lillian Isbell; brothers, Johney Garrett, Tom Garrett, Truman Garrett, Jessie Garrett and David Garrett; his sisters, Dorothy McKenzie, Oma Hollingshead, Emma Fleming, Nancy Davis and Linda Pew; and two grandsons.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Joseph Scott Garrett, James Wilson, Willard Wilson, Joseph Anthony Garrett, Ethan Wilson and Joseph Garrett Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Tom Nunnelee, Scott Riley, Mark McMillion and Terry A. Parker.
