KEARNEY, Mo. — Donald Edward York “Don” York, 83, died Sept. 8, 2018, at home.

Born Jan. 16, 1935, in West Plains, son of the late Nancy Jane Myers York and Louis Alexander York, he was the founding pastor at the First Pentecostal Church of Kearney and continued as pastor emeritus and as chaplain to the Kearney Fire Department until his passing.

His wife, Patty York, survives of the home in Kearney.

Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Anita York of Raytown, Steve and Cindy York of Holt Summit and Shawn and Michelle York of Jefferson City; one sister, Patsy York Carrow of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Jack York of Bridgeton; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Suzanne York Fred; four sisters, Helen York Pollard, Shirley York Spivey, Judy York Presley and Carol Sue York in infancy; and two brothers, Robert York and John Riley York.

Visitation was Tuesday at First Pentecostal Church of Kearney.

A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Pentecostal Church of Kearney, 105 S Prospect St., in Kearney.

Burial will be on Thursday in Sikeston Memorial Park.
