SIKESTON — A Sikeston man faces felony charges for his alleged involvement in a burglary early Tuesday.

George M. Cagle, 45, is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid; felony first degree burglary; and misdemeanor stealing, according to online court records.

At 4:16 a.m. Tuesday, officers with Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a report of a burglary in the 600 block of Carroll Avenue, according DPS reports. The caller reported that he woke up and found a male inside the residence, said Capt. Austin Henley with Sikeston DPS. The caller said he told the male to leave and he exited the residence. Officers began checking the area and located the male at the intersection of Dempster and Blanton streets. During the investigation, officers located items on the male that had been taken from the residence.

The male, who was identified as Cagle, was taken into custody. Bond is set through Scott County at $25,000 cash or surety, and he is to have no contact with the victim.
