SIKESTON — A Sikeston man wanted on felony charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action was arrested Wednesday for his alleged involvement in an Oct. 3 shooting incident.

Lamar Tyrone Johnson, 33, is charged with the following felonies: two counts of felony first degree assault or attempt, two counts of armed criminal action, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree property damage, unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree attempted domestic assault, according to online court records.

On Oct. 3, officers with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to the area in the 700 block of Wallace Street in reference to a report of shots fired, according to Capt. Austin Henley. They spoke to the female complainant who said she was driving her vehicle down Smith Street when an eastbound vehicle was driving slowly down the street, and she saw a male in the passenger seat who was hanging out of the window fire a gun toward her vehicle. The woman said she heard three gunshots and one hit her vehicle. The vehicle left, and the female called police.

Following an investigation, police determined Johnson as the suspect and a Scott County warrant was issued for his arrest. He was also wanted on warrants out of New Madrid and Mississippi counties

Bond was set at $75,000 cash only, and he remained in the Scott County Jail as of press time.
