Mary Burton

SIKESTON — Mary Laverne Burton, 90, died Oct. 15, 2018, at Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston.

Born Nov. 30, 1927, in Benton, daughter of the late Ora and Flossie Davis Clinton, she was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and had been a shoe factory assembly worker before retiring.

On Aug. 8, 1944, she married Lawrence Burton; he preceded her in death in 1989.

Survivors include: one son, Ronnie C. Burton of Sikeston; one sister, Sandy Groves of Sikeston; and nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Burton and Joe Burton; one daughter, Mary Lou Duncan; one brother, Troy Davis Clinton; and two sisters, Carrie Smith and Sue Angle.

There will be a lunch from 11 a.m. until noon followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston.
