Jim Young
SIKESTON — James E. "Jim" Young, 73, died Oct. 19, 2018, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.
Born June 22, 1945, at Anna, Ill., son of the late Benjamin Edwin and Nettie Pearl Lovelace Young, he was a longtime resident of Sikeston and a well-known general contractor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam; he was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jamie Young, and her children, Maya Young and Jaden Young of St. Louis; his longtime companion, Ann Corbett Smith of Sikeston, and her children, Andrew and Erin Smith and their children, Corbett and Zadie Smith of Sherman, Texas. Also surviving are six nephews, Shawn Lyerla of Naylor, Matthew Lyerla of Paducah, Ky., Michael Cunningham of Anna, Ill., Daniel Cunningham of Louisiana and David Crouch and Steve Crouch of Florida; three nieces, Lori Hurlburt of Chantilly, Va., Keri Fischer of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Heather Cunningham of Anna and several other nieces.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and two nephews.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until time for memorial service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 at Blanchard Funeral Chapel with Austin Maxwell officiating.
