CANYON LAKE, Texas — James E. Manker Sr., 86, died Nov. 7, 2018.

Born Sept. 30, 1932, in Deventer, Mo., son of the late James M. and Helen V. Manker, he joined the U.S. Air Force in June 1952 and retired as a master sergeant in March 1974. He served tours in France, Germany and Viet Nam. He worked at Herff Jones yearbooks, Montgomery, Ala., as a bindery and printing press mechanic and maintenance supervisor. After retiring from Herff Jones, he moved to Canyon Lake, Texas. He worked 10 years as a Class C water operator and on the Board of Directors as vice president of the Canyon Springs Water Company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include: two sons, James E. Manker Jr. and wife Michelle Manker and Martin D. Manker and wife Rebecca; two daughters, Ann M. Wriston and husband Wayne and Lora L. Kuemper and husband Jerry; three brothers, Raymond Manker, David Manker and Donald Manker; three sisters, Norma Sommers, Melba Stricker and Judy Holzem; and 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by two daughters Barbara and Norma; two brothers Paul and Kenneth; and and granddaughter.

A rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Canyon Lake.

Burial will be in The Arlington National Cemetery at Arlington, Va.
