Charles R. Harrison Sr.
SIKESTON — Charles R. Harrison Sr., age 77, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at his home in Sikeston surrounded by his loving wife of 56 years, Juanita, and his beloved children, Martha and Chuck.
Charles was born on March 24, 1941, in Cardwell, to Roy Sherman Harrison, a farmer, and Sarah Ruby (Garner) Harrison, a homemaker.
He graduated from Cardwell High School in 1958. He continued his education earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas State University and a Bachelor of Science degree from what is now Missouri University of Science and Technology. He completed his education, earning a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky.
On Dec. 21, 1963, he married the love of his life, Juanita (Launius) Harrison.
Charles and Juanita lived in Lexington, Ky., where he worked for IBM for five years. They then returned to their home state of Missouri where Charles worked for the Missouri Highway Department as a highway designer until his retirement.
Charles was known to all as a brilliant man with a sweet and gentle spirit. His smile could brighten a room and warm any heart.
Charles is survived by his wife, Juanita; their daughter, Martha "Mars" Harrison Greer and her husband, Jared, of St. Joseph; son, Charles "Chuck" Royce Harrison, Jr. of Sikeston; four grandchildren, Lewis, Liv, and Will Greer, and Charles "Chase" Royce Harrison III; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elizabeth Betty Wilcox; and a nephew, Geoffrey Wilcox.
A farewell service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at Church of Christ in Blodgett.
