Caruthersville murder suspect turns self in to authorities

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. — A Caruthersville man wanted for the murder of his wife turned himself into authorities Wednesday.

According to the Caruthersville Police Department, Dennis Green Sr., 57, turned himself in to police custody at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday following the Sunday shooting death of his wife, Dovie “Debbie Joe” Green, 58.

Green is charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Caruthersville Police Chief Tony Jones said around 7 p.m. Sunday, a verbal dispute between the couple took place in the front yard of 404 E. 14th St., which led inside the home. Upon entering the residence, Green is accused of firing a gun and striking his wife in the upper part of her body, Jones said. The Pemiscot County coroner responded to the scene, where Mrs. Green was pronounced dead.

Officers from Caruthersville Police Department, Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.

Green is being held in the Pemiscot County Justice Center, and there is no bond. He was scheduled to be arraigned early Thursday before Judge William Carter in Pemiscot County’s Division 2.
