Drug investigation leads to Sikeston man’s arrest
SIKESTON — A Sikeston man faces charges following a drug investigation that led to his arrest Monday.
On Monday Sikeston Department of Safety narcotics detectives conducted a drug investigation in the 400 block of Lee Street which resulted in the arrest of Victwom Riley, 22, of Sikeston, according to Lt. Jon Broom, public information officer with Sikeston DPS.
Riley is charged through Scott County Circuit Court with delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon.
Detectives received information marijuana was being sold from a residence in the 400 block of Lee Street so they set up surveillance and later performed what is called a “knock and talk,” Broom said. After speaking with detectives, the resident — Riley — granted them permission to search his home.
During the search, detectives located items consistent with the sale of marijuana, along with marijuana and a loaded handgun. Also seized was U.S. currency which is believed to be the proceeds of the illegal drug sales, Broom said.
DPS Director Mike Williams would like to remind everyone that if they see suspicious behavior to contact their local police.
