William Vanover

SIKESTON — William Myron Vanover, 81, died Dec. 12, 2018, at his home near Sikeston.              

Born Feb. 4, 1937, in Sikeston, son of the late Lester "Buddy" and Virginia Metcalf Vanover, he was a lineman for the Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities, veteran of the U.S. Navy, of the Baptist belief, a member of the Henry Meldrum Post of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He was first married to the mother of his children, Maureen Brown Vanover, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 1, 1997, he married Brenda Sullivan, who preceded him in death on Jan. 4, 2015.

Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, William Kevin (Anita) Vanover of Poplar Bluff, Myron Scott (Tracy) Vanover of Dexter and Joseph Spencer (Charlette) Vanover of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen (Jerry) Mickey of St. Louis; one stepson, Olin "Dink" Boes of Sikeston; one stepdaughter, Ceretha (Lonnie) Rucker of Sikeston; two brothers, Jerry Vanover of St. Louis and Tony Vanover of Sikeston; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Buddy Lee (Marilyn) Vanover; and one stepson, Marc Boes.

Visitation is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home.

Graveside rites will be at noon Friday at the Missouri Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield.
