WACO, Texas, — Sam Goolsby, 89, died Dec. 3, 2018. 

Born April 5, 1929, in Morehouse, Mo., son of the late S.L. and Eula (Cline) Goolsby, he was a 1947 graduate of Morehouse High School and continued his education at Southeast Missouri State University. He earned a degree in agriculture science from the University of Missouri in 1956. For several years, he served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by several companies to include Southwest Spray and Chemicals, Teneco Oil, C.B.K. Industry, W.W.R. Investments and  American Plant Food.  He later was owner and C.E.O. of Trend Products. He was a member of the American Agronomy Society and one of many people who founded the Blackland Income Growth meetings.

On Sept. 6, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa, he married Patricia Sue Shoemaker, who preceded him in death on April 8, 2015. 

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kimberly Goolsby and Sean and Stefany Goolsby; and four grandchildren.

A memorial visitation was held Dec. 5, 2018, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Waco.
