In the Monday night semifinals of the Class 2 District 1 Tournament, one Portageville senior scored her 1000th career point. Portageville was playing the Lady Campbell Camels. During the first half of the Lady Bulldogs’ final game, Dasmine Johnson scored her 1000th career point. She finished the game with 24 points to put her career points at 1,012. Johnson has lettered in basketball all four years of her high school career and has started for three years, She has played in 99 career games (out of 102). She scored 204 points as Sophomore, 318 as a Junior, and 427 points this year as a senior. She also added 66 points as a Freshman. The Lady Bulldogs fell to Campbell in the District semi-finals 51-63.
Johnson is the First Lady Bulldog to surpass 1000th points in 11 years. “She is the only player I have coached that has scored 1000 points. Das works hard and loves the game as much as anyone I have known. She is a gym rat and spends most of her free time playing ball. That hard work and dedication has paid off and I could not be more proud of her,” said head coach Kellye Penn Fowler.
