SIKESTON — Violet Fay Estes Laster, 70, died May 7, 2019, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau. Born May 5, 1949, in Cairo, Ill., daughter of the late John F. Estes and Jaunetia Hope Rogers Estes, she was a 1967 graduate of Charleston High School. She worked for the Division of Family Services at the East Prairie office a number of years before going to work at the Miner Baptist Church Daycare. SIKESTON — Violet Fay Estes Laster, 70, died May 7, 2019, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 5, 1949, in Cairo, Ill., daughter of the late John F. Estes and Jaunetia Hope Rogers Estes, she was a 1967 graduate of Charleston High School. She worked for the Division of Family Services at the East Prairie office a number of years before going to work at the Miner Baptist Church Daycare. Having lived in Sikeston a number of years, she was a member of the Miner Baptist Church.

On Feb. 18, 1968, she married John W. Laster, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are one son, John David (Kristi) Laster of Republic; one daughter, Amy (Jeff) Winders of Sikeston; one brother, Jerry (Joann) Estes of Humbolt, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Jerry Adams and the Rev. Ron Shrum of Sikeston will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Richard Slaten, Charles Tinsley, Ronnie Finley, Eddie McDowell, Jay Bledsoe and Paul Ledbetter.
