CHARLESTON, Mo. — Colleen Glenn, 89, died May 6, 2019, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Feb. 4, 1930, in Mississippi County, daughter of the late James Hazzard Thompson and Birdie Sally Evans Thompson, she had lived in rural Charleston most of her life. A lifelong educator, she completed her teaching degree and obtained her master’s degree in reading and special education. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and had volunteered with the Charleston Nutrition Center and also the Mississippi County Library District as a story teller.
On Jan. 16, 1953, she married Robert Jay Glenn, who preceded her in death on on Aug. 30, 1986.
Surviving are her son, Robert Dale (Vanessa) Glenn of Charleston; daughter, Carol Stewart of Pittsfield, Ill.; and six grandchildren and;five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles Lee Glenn; one brother, William H. Thompson; and two sisters, Bertha Harvey and Lottie Bell Thompson.
Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until service tim at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Ted Wimberley, of Lexington, Tenn., and the Rev. Randy Thomas, interim pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church, officiated.
Burial followed in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
