Mary Mashburn

CHARLESTON, Mo. — Mary Rita Scheffer Mashburn, 62, of Charleston died at 4 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2019, at her home.

She was born May 29, 1956, in Cairo, Ill., to the late John Henry and Rita M. Urhahn Scheffer of the Texas Bend Community. She lived in Mississippi County most of her life and was co-owner of Scheffer Printing and Mailing Service and the Mississippi County Times Newspaper in Charleston. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.

On March 19, 2011, she married Robert Mashburn, who survives of the home.

Surviving are: three daughters, Daphne and her husband, James Thomas of Charleston, Laura and her husband, Nitin Daz, of San Antonio, Texas, and Bethany Mashburn Martin of Kennett; one son, Zach, and his wife, Audra Korenak, of Edmond, Okla.; two brothers, Stephen Scheffer  (Darlene) of Dallas, Texas, and Charlie Scheffer of Greensboro, N.C.; four sisters, Ruth Ellen Kollmeyer (Larry) of Fairbanks, Alaska, Mary Sue Geraghty (Jim) of Greensboro, N.C., Rose Mary Lund (Bill) of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Alice Marie Harvell (Tim) of Jackson; also, eight grandchildren, Derek Thomas, Haley Thomas, Isaac Daz, Henry Daz, Daniel Martin, Zane Korenak, Rowan Korenak, and Thatcher Korenak; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston with a funeral Mass following at 1 p.m. The Rev. David Dohogne, pastor, will serve as celebrant.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery under direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Harvell, Tony Lund, Charlie Scheffer, Jr., Zach Scheffer, Ryan Heaton, Curtis McCathrey, Zach Leffler, and Tanner Ray.
