Mary Riggins
EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — Mary Sue Riggins, 98, died May 8, 2019, at her home.
Born Dec. 27, 1920, in Jackson County, Tenn., to the late John Henry and Ada Marie Brown Melton, she was a homemaker. She was of Baptist belief.
In 1938 in Steele, she married James Wade Riggins; he preceded her in death November 1998.
Survivors include eight sons, Herschel Riggins, Larry Riggins, Tony Riggins, Wayne Riggins, Bobby Joe Riggins and Steve Riggins of East Prairie, Sammy Riggins of Tennessee and Jerry Riggins of Hawaii; five daughters, Wanita Brock of Anniston, Betty Shands, Wanda Ditto and Brenda Kaye Patrick, of East Prairie and Rosemary Fechner of Texas; one brother, Jo Melton of Illinois; and 37 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann Riggins; eight brothers and five sisters.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. until service time at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with Sammy Riggins and Martin Lucas officiating.
Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Eric Vines, Randy Vines, Steven Riggins, Jr., Austin Riggins, Justin Riggins, Kyle Ditto and Jeffery Kissiar. Honorary pallbearer will be Timothy Patrick.
