SIKESTON — Erma Jean Applewhite, 68, died July 7, 2019, at the Miner Nursing Center in Miner.
Born June 15, 1951, in Sikeston, daughter of the late Fred and Elizabeth Peet Barnhill, she attended Matthews Public School in Matthews.
Her husband, Joseph Applewhite, preceded her in death on July 30, 2017.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Ollie Barnhill; and three sisters, Mamie Shine, Jo Barnhill and Minnie B. Barnhill.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Antwan and Shameika Barnhill of Cape Girardeau and Lee Edward and Kelly Barnhill of St. Louis; one daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Steve Flye of Cape Girardeau; four brothers, Johnny Frank Barnhill of Sikeston and Sylvester Barnhill, Willie Barnhill and Thomas Barnhill of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Thelma Barnhill of Columbus; and 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from noon until service time at 1 p.m. Saturday at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston with Herman Gardner, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sunset of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston with the Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
