SIKESTON — Gale Hastings, 81, passed on to his next great adventure on April 21, 2019. This man, who never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off of his back, spent his final days surrounded by family and the many friends that he had somehow touched during his memorable life.
His wife, Lydia (Jean), welcomes friends and family to help remember Gale at a memorial service scheduled at the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery on July 26, 2019, at 10 a.m.
Gale was known for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor and many stories from his larger-than-life experiences. He always let his family know he wished he had been a better husband and father, but they knew he loved them unconditionally and would endure any hardship to provide for them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lydia (Jean) Hastings; daughters, Kimbarly Johnson and Shari Ritchie; grandchildren, Alison Morgan, Matthew Johnson, Kyle Lewis, Morganne Mollman and Hunter Lopez and his many adored great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Christa Patray, Carole McBride and Debbie Holmes; his aunt, Janet Scobey; and his beloved nieces and nephews.
