Loretta Szymanski

SIKESTON – Loretta Szymanski, 97, died July 22, 2019 at La Bonne Maison in Sikeston.

Born Sept. 3, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Joseph and Jennie Robak Walensa, she was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston.

On May 27, 1944, in Chicago, she married Matthew Szymanski who preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1997.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jim Hux of Sikeston; three grandchildren, Jay Hux, Matt (Elizabeth) Hux and Kate (Gabe) Johnson and three great-grandchildren, Cleo Hux, June Hux and Louis Johnson.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Walensa and Stella Boncler.

Friends may call Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston, with Father David Dohogne, officiating.
