Too many recycle bins

To the editor,

I live on Irene St. in East Prairie, Mo. I have a neighbor that is a junk man/recycler. For those that don’t know what this consists of, let me tell you…

There are one dozen recycle bins (5’x5’x5’) in this man’s back yard. They are full. Over the top. Each bin has different metal. But most of them have aluminum cans. These cans have juices in them that attract cockroaches.

There are other recycled items all over the yard which also attract mice and snakes. Both times he weed-eated his yard this year, myself and our neighbors on every side have received an infestation at our homes.

This is not cheap. It costs a lot of money to have a junkman/recycler for a neighbor.

We have all complained to code enforcement, to the City of East Prairie. The one thing I do know is that if he was their neighbor, he’d have to clean it up. This is a residential area. Not commercial. This is our home.

So I’m wondering what to do next…
