CHARLESTON, Mo. — Two accidents on Interstate 57 have left one with a serious injury and five others with minor injuries.
The first accident occurred Sunday night when an Illinois man was injured after being ejected from his car.
According to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Ocampo Amado, 60, of Danvielle, Ill., was heading southbound on Interstate 57 at the 3.6 mile marker at 7:20 p.m. when the truck he was driving ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned. Amado, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.
Amado was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo., where he was treated with serious injuries.
A second accident occurred at 11:35 p.m. Monday when a car driven by Raymond B. Henderson, 25, of DeSoto, Texas, was southbound, two miles south of Bertand, when the vehicle travelled off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.
Henderson along with his passengers, Calvin D. Burford, 26, of Fort Worth, Texas; Rachel D. Simpson, 34, of Arlington, Texas, along with a 13-year-old and 11-year-old, both from Arlington, all received minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
