PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. - The guest speaker for the Veterans’ Day Assembly at Portageville High School will be Olin Parks. The program will be held on Monday, November 11 in the Portageville High School gymnasium and will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Parks is a Vietnam Veteran and VFW Judge Advocate. He served his country from 1968-69 in the US Army Medical Corps. He went to Viet Nam on 1968 and was the senior medic for G Troop Second Squadron of the 11th Armored Cavalry AKA (Blackhorse). Parks returned to the United States with two purple hearts and an assortment of other medals.
Upon his discharge in November 1969, he went into reserve duty where he served for nine years until he became school superintendent of the Caruthersville School District.
