Margaret Spence

SIKESTON — Margaret Mary Spence, 91, formerly of Benton, passed away at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019.

She was born Jan. 8, 1928, in Wellingbrough, England, the daughter of Eric Sidney and Winifred Turnell Godfrey. She married George Daniel Spence on Aug. 21, 1944, in Wellingbrough. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 2007.    

She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Benton and Worked as a seamstress at the Florshiem Shoe Factory.

She is survived by a son, Danny Spence of Bertrand, Mo., and a daughter, Peggy Laminack of Doniphan, Mo.; and four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers.

Visitation will be at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton on Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating.

Burial will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
