POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Betty Jo Morrow-Spiker, 84, died Dec. 5, 2019, at Country Place Assisted Living in Scott City.

Born August 28, 1935, at Braggadocio, daughter of the late Ralph Naile and Ethel Lee Howell Tesney, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, the late William Wes Tesney. She lived in Diehlstadt most of her life and had been employed with Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston. She moved to Wappapello and later to Poplar Bluff where she had been employed as a cook at the Twin Towers. She was of the Baptist belief and later joined Highland Church of Christ.

On July 4, 1953, she married Garlan Morrow, who preceded her in death on Oct.1, 1994. She later married Dr. Robert Marshall Spiker on Sept. 13, 2003, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2016.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, William and Carol Weber Morrow of Jackson; one brother, Roger Tesney of Sikeston and one sister, Nelda Creek of Charleston; and two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Don Tesney; and one sister, Frankie Turner.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. George Nite, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate. 

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
