NEW MADRID, Mo. — Catherine Hayden Dawson Cook, 87, died Jan. 5, 2020, at her home in New Madrid.

Born Aug. 23, 1992, in Caruthersville, daughter of the late J.A. “Peck” and Letha Hayden, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Madrid. 

She was first married to George W. Dawson Sr., and he preceded her in death. She later married Bill Cook, who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Joseph Dawson; one daughter, Melissa Dawson Hunter; one sister Ellis Marie Coleman; one brother Joseph Anselm Hayden Jr.; one daughter-in-law, Jane Ann Dawson; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include: two sons, George “Gee” W. Dawson Jr. and Hayden Kevin Dawson Sr. of New Madrid; daughters, Malinda Dawson Grunwald (Jeff) of New Madrid and Dixie Marie Dawson and Barb Straker of St. Louis; two stepchildren, Karla Drury of St. Augustine, Floirda, and Danny Cook (Jennifer) of Pensacola, Florida; one brother, Henry Thomas Hayden of Caruthersville; sons-in-law, Sam Hunter III (Leslie) of New Madrid and Dan Drury of Cape Girardeau; daughter-in-law, Lisa Martin Dawson of New Madrid; and 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be at noon Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Madrid with the Rev. Dominic Ibok officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
