CHARLESTON, Mo. — Martha Green, 72, died Dec. 29, 2019, at the Charleston Manor Nursing Facility in Charleston.

Born Dec. 21, 1947, in Charleston, daughter of the late Manuel and Margrett Dickson Clemons, she attended Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston. She attended Lincoln School in Charleston and later received an associate’s degree at Northeastern University in Chicago in early childhood education. She became a member of New Life Evangelical Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board for many years. She taught school in Baltimore, Maryland, housekeeping in Chicago, General Electric Company and the South Shore Drill Team in Chicago.

On March 27, 1969, in Chicago, he married L.A. Green, who survives of the home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ondray Green; two brothers, Herbert Clemons and Willie Clemons; and two sisters, Geneva Clemons and Laura Louis Browning.

Survivors include: her husband, L. A. Green of Charleston; one brother, Clifford Clemons of Chicago; three sisters, Albirdie Clemons Shaw of Sikeston, Betty Clemons Hill of Chicago and Shirley Clemons Johnson of Charleston; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Williams Green of Chicago; a special niece, Yaszmin Clemons of Charleston; and two grandsons.

Visitation is from noon until service time at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston with Arthur Cassell, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
