Monroe Young Sr.
SIKESTON — Monroe Young Sr., 80, died Jan. 3, 2020, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born April 2, 1939, in Batesville, Miss., to the late Earnest and Alma (Kuykendall) Young, he attended public school in Batesville and Sardis, Miss.. and spent many years working at auto mechanic shops where he painted and detailed cars and he also was skilled at landscaping lawns.
He was formally married to Pauletta Bledsoe.
Survivors include: two sons, Shawn Young of Lilbourn and Monroe Young Jr. of Sikeston; four sisters, Emma Lou Young of New Orleans, La., Ida Ward Young of Wisconsin, Bethceil Farmer and Azzie Sanford of Sardis, Miss.; one brother, Robert Young of Memphis, Tenn.; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Young; and a sister, Grace Young.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Sardis.
Driver Funeral Service of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
