SIKESTON — The Sikeston Department of Public Safety is investigating an early morning shooting in Sikeston.

According to a release from Sikeston DPS, at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, Sikeston DPS received a call of a male who was shot three times at 905 Montgomery, Apartment B. The 24-year-old male, who has not been identified by police, was shot once in the abdomen area, once in his left leg and once in his right leg and was transported by emergency personnel to Saint Francis Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The victim stated he stepped out of his residence and was shot by an unknown subject.

While officers were investigating the scene, several more shots were heard in the area. Several calls were reported seconds later and a second scene was located at 109 Adams. Multiple shell casings were located in the front and rear of the residence. No one inside the residence was struck.

Sikeston DPS is investigating both incidents.
