Herbert Brown

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — Herbert Brown, 80, died Jan. 31, 2020.

Born Feb. 26, 1939, son of late Harmon Brown Sr. and late Elnora Brown, he had attended Green Memorial Church of God in Christ. He had worked for EBG, Portageville Compress, Plastine, farming and construction.

On July 8, 1965, he married Maxine Brown, who preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Bessie Lee Brown, Remal Hill, Corine Brown; three sons, Herbert Weakly, Charles Brown, Herman Brown; two daughters, Linda Weakly and Brenda Weakly.

Survivors include: three sons: James Brown of Portageville, Roderick Brown (Lakadra) of New Madrid, Harvey Brown (Karen) of Howardville; three daughters, Elnora Taylor Watie (Demeyon), Stephanie Hopkins (Antonio) of Springfield and Starlett Brown (Preston) of Cape Girardeau,; one brother; Hermon Brown Jr. of Benton Harbor, Michigan; and 34 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Saturday at Miracle Church Temple in Portageville.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.

DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville is in charge of arrangements.
