E. Paul Jackson
CHARLESTON, Mo. —E. Paul Jackson, 98, died Feb. 9, 2020.
Born June 10, 1921, in Swinton, Missouri, son of the late W.E. and Mary Etta (Bell) Jackson, he lived in Charleston. After working 25 years in the construction business, he became a Realtor with the Missouri Board of Realtors. He continued his business until retiring at age 88. He served as a member of the Charleston City Council from 1966 to 1969, serving as mayor in 1968-1969. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce for 50 years. He was a member for more than 60 years of First Assembly of God Church in Charleston where he served as adult Sunday school teacher, deacon, treasurer, chairman of the Board and interim pastor. He was a charter member of the Mid-America Teen Challenge and served on its Board of Directors since its inception. He served as the president of the Sikeston Board of Realtors and as a member of the Housing Board when it was formed.
On Dec. 22, 1944, he married Maryleen Chapman, who preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2013.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Zelbert Jackson, Harvey Jackson; and one sister, Nellie Jackson.
Survivors include: one daughter, Brenda Bates of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one son, the Rev. Paul D. Jackson of Cinnaminson, New Jersey; and three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church in Charleston.
Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
