Jerry Hampton
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Jerry Alvin Hampton, 74, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, died Monday, March 9, 2020, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born April 25, 1945, in Pascola, Missouri, to Alvin Frederick and Gloria Jean Byrd Hampton.
He and Betty Tanner were married June 12, 1965, at Sikeston, Missouri.
He was actively involved in Boy Scouts as a Scout Master and other positions in the Southeast Missouri Council from 1968 to present.
He was a member of VFW Auxiliary, Elks, Kiwanis and Eagles.
He worked as a supervisor with Town & Country Supermarket out of Fredericktown for 30-plus years.
He was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Hampton of Cape Girardeau; mother, Gloria Jean Hampton of Sycamore, Illinois; three sons, Chris (Aimee) Hampton of Marble Hill, Missouri, Matt (Kate) Hampton of Jackson, Missouri, and Eric Hampton of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; four brothers, Rick Hampton of DeKalb, Illinois, Mike Hampton of Sycamore, Illinois, Tom Hampton of Sunnyvale, California, and David Hampton of Sycamore, Illinois; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; one daughter, Christina Rene Hampton; one son, James Alvin Hampton; two sisters, Sandra Franklin and Penny Dorenbos; and one brother, Larry Hampton.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. At 7:30 p.m. there will be a special Boy Scout ceremony; all are welcome.
Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Joe McCullough officiating.
Burial will be at Garden of Memories in Sikeston.
