UPDATED NUMBERS: Scott County up to 41 positive cases
SIKESTON — The number of positive coronavirus cases in Scott County has seen another significant increase.
According to the Missouri Department of Health and Scott County Health Department Thursday afternoon, there are now 41 positive cases in Scott County, up from just 14 positive cases just six days ago.
The Scott County Health Department noted that eight have recovered or are recovering.
The Health Department has not released any other information about the location of the positive cases after being directed by state officials to not release geographical information about the positive cases.
The New Madrid County Health Department is still reporting eight positive cases with five active and three recovered.
Mississippi County still has no positive coronavirus cases.
According to the Mississippi County Health Department, there are three confirmed cases of employees at the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston but none are residents of Mississippi County.
The Dunklin County Health Department announced the first death in Dunklin County related to COVID-19 on Wednesday. No further information on the person who died was available.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the Dunklin County Health Department has reported 18 cases. Nine have recovered and the status of eight are listed as unknown. Of the 18, 10 have been female with 10 of the cases over the age of 50.
The Stoddard County Public Health Center released they have no new cases as of Thursday morning. They currently have had 13 positive cases with only six of those cases active as seven have recovered.

According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Thursday afternoon, the state has 5,111 positive coronavirus cases with 152 deaths related to COVID-19.
There have been over 50,000 tests conducted in the state.
